Shop the Sides!

When you go grocery shopping, what section of the store fills ups your cart the most?

It took me a long time to realize this, but if you focus on purchasing the majority of your foods from the perimeter of the store rather than the aisles in the middle, you’ll be on your way to avoiding the majority of processed foods. Think about it—if you are filing your cart with fresh produce and meats, you don’t have much “need” to dive into the center aisles — and you’ll avoid impulse purchases of less healthy foods.

The best part about the perimeter of the store? Most of it’s contents don’t even have nutrition labels because they are raw, fresh ingredients. You won’t have to waste your time scouring labels for high fructose corn syrup or other additives you may be looking to avoid!

Start your next grocery trip in the produce section and see how it affects how you fill your fridge this week!
