2 Simple Nutrition Guidelines

It seems like as a society we’ve decided that if something is simple or short, it can’t possibly be effective. You see it everywhere, people creating pages of content to make a point that could be made in one paragraph. In fact, I’m already doing it in this blog post!

Here’s why simple works- it’s easy to remember and simple (but not easy) to do, so you’re more likely to stick with it. With that being said, here are my personal 2 simple nutrition guidelines.

  1. Eat mostly unprocessed foods.
  2. Eat less sugar.

Yes, there is so much more that goes into nutrition. However, if we all ate more unprocessed foods and less sugar, we’d all be MUCH healthier. Take two minutes today to analyze your diet, and I’m sure you’ll find plenty of opportunities to eat more unprocessed foods and less sugar, and it will take a good amount of effort to take advantage of those opportunities. I also love that these guidelines aren’t prohibitive and allow us to keep a positive mindset toward our food. We aren’t suggesting you eliminate any foods or prescribing a plan that is impossible to stick with. These are simple guidelines endorsed by health organizations around the world, but with all the information about nutrition out there, it’s easy to forget about the simple basics. Don’t forget- simple works!
